Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is committed to fostering knowledge and education within our community and beyond. We take great pride in hosting a diverse range of educational events that are open to the general public. These events allow individuals from all walks of life to engage with our esteemed faculty, access cutting-edge research, and immerse themselves in an intellectually stimulating environment. By extending our educational resources to the public, we aim to promote lifelong learning and empower individuals to broaden their horizons. MAHE hosts events at the university that are open to the general public, such as public lectures that focus on the latest developments in the field. MAHE also organizes national and international conferences that are open to the general public.
1.1 International Conference on Physical Education & Sports Science - Open to the general public:
MAHE organized an International Conference on Physical Education & Sports Science under the aegis of National Association of Physical Education & Sports Science (NAPESS), from 14th to 16th Dec. 2023, with aims to bring together experts and researchers from around the world to discuss the latest developments and advancements in the field of physical education and sports science.

1.2 International Conference on Discrete Mathematics and Combinatorics - Open to the general public:
Manipal Institute of Technology Bengaluru, MAHE – Manipal organized an International Conference on Discrete Mathematics and Combinatorics in association with Jangjeon Mathematical Society, South Korea on December 20-22, 2023.

This conference aims to bring together experts and young researchers and provide a platform for discussions on recent advances in the relevant research areas through invited talks and research paper presentations. The conference's academic program will consist of invited talks and paper presentations. Each participant will be given a copy of the lecture notes. The lectures may be either comprehensive surveys or talks based on original research. All registered and accepted papers under this conference will be published in Scopus Indexed Journals.
1.3 International Conference on Recent Advances in Science and Engineering - Open to the general public:
RAiSE-2023 – Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, Manipal, organized an International Conference on Recent Advances in Science and Engineering in association with the School of Engineering and IT, MAHE Dubai, UAE. The event took place on 4 – 5 October 2023, in Hybrid Mode (Offline & Online).
1.4 The International Conference RAiSE-2023 - Open to the general public:
This conference focuses on integrating multi-disciplinary domains and aims to cover the latest developments in technology, including applications in mechanical sciences, computer science, electronics, applied sciences, and their interdisciplinary domains. The conference provides a platform for academicians, industrialists, research scholars, and students to exchange expertise and knowledge, broaden technical knowledge, and deepen understanding of cutting-edge research.

1.5 Manipal Research Colloquium 2023 - Open for researchers from all disciplines and institutions:
The 7th Manipal Research Colloquium (MRC) was organized from 12th to 14th April 2023 by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education- Student Research Forum (MAHE-SRF) and Centre for Doctoral Studies (CDS), under the aegis of the Directorate of Research, MAHE, Manipal.
MRC 2023 aimed to bring together students, scholars, faculty, and scientists to discuss a diverse range of topics from various streams, including Health Sciences, Technical Sciences, Basic & Applied Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Management Sciences, across the different MAHE institutes. Papers and posters under the General Category were presented on 12th and 14th April 2023, while Ph.D. mandatory poster presentations were held on 13th April 2023.
2. Community Educational Events
At Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), we are dedicated to promoting knowledge and education within our community and beyond. We are proud to host a variety of educational events that are open to the public. These events offer people from all backgrounds the chance to interact with our esteemed faculty, explore the latest research, and engage in intellectually stimulating activities. By sharing our educational resources with the public, we hope to encourage lifelong learning and empower individuals to expand their horizons. Our aim is to make education inclusive, open to the general public, and accessible to all, inspiring everyone to enhance their knowledge and skills.
2.1 Early Intervention and Family-Centred Services: Bridging the Gap to Participation and Inclusion for Children with Disabilities - Open to the general public:

On the 16th and 17th of February, 2023, Manipal College of Health Professions conducted an International Symposium on Early Intervention and Family Centred Services: Bridging the Gap to Participation and Inclusion for Children with Disabilities in collaboration with Amar Seva Sangam, University of Toronto, and McGill University; sponsored by Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute. This symposium is the first of its kind to be hosted by Manipal College of Health Professions.
The symposium focused on a partnership approach to healthcare, with families as the major stakeholders in the decision-making process. The symposium was held in a hybrid mode with both offline and online participants. Over 175 participants were a part of this symposium, making it an incredible experience. The symposium hosted a total of 18 speakers (10 National and 8 International), with nine of the speakers presenting in person, while the rest joined online.
Global Considerations of Disability for Rehabilitation Providers - Open to the general public:
McGill University – Global Health Programs Summer Institutes hosted a three-day event showcasing the power of collaboration in the field of Disability Studies and Rehabilitation. From 23rd May-25th May 2023. The online program was conducted on “Global Considerations of Disability for Rehabilitation Providers”, with a remarkable collaboration between the two organizing institutes, Disability Rights Watch, Zambia; Amar Seva Sangam, Ayikudi, Tamil Nadu; and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Invited Talks:
Manipal Centre for Natural Sciences hosted 14 invited talks on various topics, including astrophysics, particle physics, nuclear physics, quantum physics, our universe, and gravitational wave science, between 05.01.2023 and 28.12.2023.
National Science Day Celebration :
The National Science Day is celebrated as an outreach activity with a view to inculcate scientific interest among school and college fraternity. On February 28, 2023, MCNS hosted a one-day workshop for school/college teachers focused on the theme "Frontiers in Science." The program featured three inspiring talks by invited esteemed scientists and one by an MCNS expert. Additionally, the movie "The Quantum Indians" was screened as part of the event.

National Science Day Celebration - Open to the general public:
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal has been celebrating National Science Day for the past 20 years by organizing a number of activities for the higher primary and high school children in the region. Students participate in model building, drawing and elocution competitions in defined themes. In addition, MAHE hosts school toppers for a week-long residential, hands-on science training program at the Manipal School of Life Sciences (MSLS), culminating in a science exhibition and the Science Day celebrations. This year, MSLS hosted around 18 top students from nearby Academy schools from February 23 to 27, 2023, who received certificates. The students stayed in the campus for the week-long programs and experienced the various facets of scientific exploration through hands-on exposure in genetics, chemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, plant sciences, microbiology, bioinformatics etc.
International Yoga Day - Open to the general public:
To promote wellness among the public, the university has established a division of yoga that provides yoga training for the general public, yoga therapy for patients, and certificate courses and postgraduate programs for students. International yoga day, conducted every year by the division, sees massive participation from students, faculty, and members of the public. The International Day of Yoga is celebrated worldwide on the 21st of June. Manipal Academy of Higher Education celebrated International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2023 with the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ “One earth, one family and one future”, coordinated by the Division of Yoga, Centre for Integrative Medicine & Research (CIMR). The event included Yoga demonstrations and practice. The entire audience joined in performing yoga with the instructor for one hour. The event also saw long time Yoga practitioners being felicitated.
The division of Yoga conducted Summer Yoga camp for children (2 batches) and also free yoga classes for the staff and students (2 batches) as well as yoga asana, essay, poster and photo competitions.

Leading Across- Creative Humility Leadership Workshop - Open to the general public:
"Leading Across- Creative Humility Leadership” workshop was organized by Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal in collaboration with the Trained Nurses’ Association of India Karnataka State Branch on the 15.05.2023 & 16.05.2023.
On 15th May 2023, there was a workshop followed by many sessions and one of the sessions on "Sustainability Drive and Leadership Action" by Dr. Jothi Clara Michael, Director of Nursing at IHH Healthcare, India. During the session, one of the guests emphasized the importance of sustainability drive in today’s world and the need to become a good leader. She discussed six key areas to position organizations for the future, introduced new sustainable leadership models for leaders, and compared them to the older models. Additionally, she spoke about the role of business sustainability and resilience and their crucial importance among nurse leaders.

World Breastfeeding Week 2023
The Department of Child Health Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Manipal, and the Department of Neonatology & Paediatrics, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Udupi District Branch observed ‘World Breastfeeding Week 2023’ on the theme “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents” with various activities conducted from 1st to 7th August 2023.
Seminar on Childhood Cancer
Childhood cancer is one of the leading causes of death among children and adolescents worldwide, which demands high requirements of a multidisciplinary team of trained professionals for the better survival of children with cancer.
Department of Child Health Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Manipal Academy of Higher Education(MAHE) Manipal organized a seminar on “Childhood Cancer” in association with a division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, KMC, Manipal, as part of International Childhood Cancer Day on the theme: “Better survival #through your hands” on 23.02.2023
The program contributed to creating awareness and improving knowledge of childhood cancer and its management.
Advanced Skill Lab Workshop - Open to all Nursing Students:
The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing at Manipal College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine Manipal branch, organized an advanced Skill Lab Competency workshop for postgraduate nursing students across India (NPCC & MSc) on 13 and 14 July 2023.
There were 30 participants from across India. The two-day workshop aimed to achieve Sustainable Development Goals three and four: good health and well-being, and quality education. During the first day of the workshop, various sessions were conducted by experts in their respective fields.
The workshop concluded the day by conducting a session on Pocus for Shock and providing hands-on training on ICD insertion. At the valedictory session, participants expressed their happiness and congratulated the organizers for arranging a hands-on training workshop to enhance their skills. They also suggested that the organizing team should continue to conduct such workshops in the future. Certificates were issued to all participants during the valedictory session.
WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY – 2023 “Creating Hope through Action" - Open to the general public:
Department of Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE (MANIPAL ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION), Manipal, in collaboration with Dr. A. V Baliga Memorial Hospital, organized a workshop for the college students of Udupi district on “Prevention of Suicide: Creating Peer Support System” on 11.09.2023 at MCON.
The dignitaries emphasized the significance of the day, the impact of suicide on everyone’s life and the need to create awareness in our society. Experts from the field deliberated on topics like lay counselling, suicide myths & facts, stress management, Question Persuade and Referral, and peer communication. The workshop comprised activities such as role plays, demonstrations, and interactive sessions. Participants of the workshop expressed that such workshops are the need of the hour especially for young adults like them. The day was concluded with the distribution of certificates and feedback from the participants. A street play on the day’s theme was also performed.
Interprofessional Advanced Wound Care Workshop - Open to all health professionals:
Manipal Centre for Interprofessional Advanced Wound Care organized a two-day hands-on workshop to equip MBBS and Nursing graduates and staff nurses of Kasturba Hospital on advanced wound care in collaboration with Coloplast India. Health professionals must work together, and nurses must lead the team when it comes to wound management as they truly care for the patient 24x7.

Department of Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal and the Department of Psychiatry, KMC, MAHE, Manipal jointly organised a Dementia screening camp at Rotary Hall, Shankarpura in collaboration with Rotary Club Shankarpura, Department of Student Affairs, MAHE, Manipal, Primary Health Centre, Moodabettu, St. Johns Church, Shankarpura, and CSI Christha Mahima Church, Manipura.
This year's theme for Alzheimer’s Day is “Never too early, Never too late," which underlines not only the essential role of Alzheimer's disease risk factors identification but also the implementation of proactive risk reduction measures to hamper and, if possible, prevent the onset of dementia.
