Gender Equality

The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) continues to champion SDG 5 - Gender Equality by strengthening its commitment to gender equity across academic, professional, and community spheres. Through systematic tracking of women’s application, admission, and graduation rates, MAHE ensures that women’s participation in higher education is closely monitored and supported with targeted interventions. The institution has developed clear policies that address women’s representation, non-discrimination, transgender inclusion, and the creation of safe, supportive learning spaces.

This year, MAHE expanded initiatives that promote women’s advancement in both academic and leadership roles. Comprehensive mentoring programmes, accessible childcare facilities for students and staff, maternity and paternity policies that enable shared caregiving, and women-focused support schemes collectively enhance opportunities for women to thrive within the institution. The university also implemented outreach and encouragement strategies in disciplines where women remain underrepresented, contributing to a more balanced and inclusive academic pipeline.

MAHE’s commitment to gender equality is further reflected in its integration of gender-responsive practices into student life, faculty development, and institutional governance. By providing transparent policies, robust support systems, and inclusive educational environments, MAHE fosters a campus culture where women and gender-diverse individuals can participate fully and equitably in all aspects of university life.
