Seeding Sustainability program 2
The ‘Seeding Sustainability’ program, initiated by the Manipal Environment Conservation Society (MECS) Students Club under the auspices of the Centre for ESG@MAHE Dubai, in collaboration with Water Alliance (NGO), has been recognized as one of the Top 20 projects amongst 250+ submissions for the ‘Sustainable Impact Challenge’ by MAJRA, a UAE Federal Government initiative. As part of this recognition, MAHE Dubai will be awarded AED 20,000 under the Sustainable Impact Challenge Prize. This funding will help scale the project to reach 5,000 students across the UAE. The MECS Students Club volunteers have engaged 780 students from Grades 3 to 5 across schools since the 2023-24 academic year through gamification initiatives addressing SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water). Water Alliance, a non-governmental organisation, has partnered in this initiative to educate children and adults on becoming mindful of their water footprint, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainable living. The project has received the Sustainable Project Stamp, a mark of excellence in sustainable innovation from MAJRA.
