Partnerships for the Goals

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

Cross sectoral dialogue about SDGs

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) plays a pivotal role in fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration at both national and international levels. The International Conference on Sustainable Future (August 2024), co-organized by the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations (MAHE) and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) India, served as a high-level dialogue on climate diplomacy and energy transitions. The event brought together policymakers, diplomats, and climate scientists from India and the European Union to discuss equitable energy transitions and knowledge sharing for climate action, advancing India-EU cooperation on sustainable growth (Conference Report - MAHE News; LinkedIn Coverage - FES Collaboration).

In January 2024, the National Conference on Nurse-led Development for Sustainable Healthcare in India, organized by the Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Government of India, convened policymakers, health administrators, and researchers to highlight nurse leadership in health-system sustainability and SDG 3 (Health and Well-being) (Conference Summary - MCON News). Complementing this was the Pre-conference Workshop on Simulation in Clinical Obstetrics, which trained healthcare educators on simulation-based maternal care, linking academic innovation directly with national health programs (Workshop Report).

MAHE also facilitates law-enforcement and civic training partnerships that bridge academia with community safety and public health systems. Through its Department of Forensic Medicine, MAHE collaborates with the Udupi District Police to conduct Basic Life Support (BLS) and forensic investigation workshops for traffic and district police officials under Project Jeevana, enhancing emergency preparedness and intersectoral coordination. Additionally, outreach initiatives such as Hands-only CPR Training at Madhav Kripa School and BLS Training for Sai Radha Green Valley residents demonstrate how MAHE embeds SDG capacity-building at the grassroots level. In the policy advocacy sphere, MAHE inaugurated the Tobacco Cessation Centre at Manipal Tata Medical College in September 2024, under the Government of India’s National Tobacco Control Programme, offering behavioural therapy and cessation counselling to support community health goals (Official Inauguration Post - Instagram).

Through a robust portfolio of cross-sectoral conferences, workshops, and health interventions, MAHE has strengthened the integration of SDGs 3, 13, and 17 within academia and governance. These initiatives demonstrate how sustainable dialogue and collaboration between universities, governments, and communities can accelerate policy implementation and social transformation. By engaging with ministries, international partners, and local agencies, MAHE continues to exemplify how academic institutions operationalize SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) to drive inclusive, evidence-based, and globally connected sustainable development.
