COP28 UAE University Climate Network
Manipal Academy of Higher Education Dubai Campus is committed towards Sustainable Campus Initiatives and Sustainability action projects and has been awarded by Environment Agency Abu Dhabi for its commitment.
We are signatories for UNFCC* Race to Zero and have a Climate Action Plan for the campus with 2040 Net Zero target. Our students are working towards these goals and university is a living lab for their studies to address climate change.
COP28 was hosted by UAE in 2023 and MAHE Dubai as a member of Universities Climate Network (UCN) has engaged to drive engagement of youth in COP28 and beyond and actively engaged in UCN Pillars for student affairs and youth engagement, research and innovation, public engagement, decarbonization and net zero journey, and international student engagement. The students, faculty, administrators attended dedicated hubs to learn, inspire, collaborate and engage in climate action.
The student led Manipal Environment Conservation Students Club conducted Pre COP events at campus such as road show to educate and spread awareness on thematic days at COP28, and understand COP28’s mission for collective action, climate policies and concrete outcomes. Our ‘Seeding Sustainability’ Program in collaboration with Water Alliance was presented by students at the 18th United Nations Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY18) at Expo City Dubai. The 18th Conference of Youth with official youth constituency of UNFCC, Yongo, fosters inclusivity and diversity, empowers young voices to shape international climate policies, fostering universal accessibility
